2018-2019 |
We spent the whole week learning about the life of Abraham Lincoln. Above is the pictorial I used to teach the kids some important facts about our 16th President. I draw it in front of the students while I tell the story. We revisit it the next day and each child receives a word to place up on the pictorial as I retell the story. This is a very effective teaching method as it helps the kids to hear & see the information delivered in a meaningful way. ![]() Here is the cognitive content dictionary for this week. Ask your child to explain the vocabulary that we learned :) ![]() Before we started learning about Lincoln, I recorded questions the children had about him. As we read book and gathered information, we added new learnings to the "WOW!" side of the chart. ***Thanks to Aaron for recording the information in green as the kids shared what they learned!!! We drew portraits of Abraham Lincoln. We're not quite finished, but here's a sneak peek! On Friday, the kids sketched & wrote what they had learned about Abraham Lincoln. The children used our classroom resources to recall information. Check it out! ![]() The kids are learning to read and identify compound words and contractions. In math, we continued to work on understanding place value with tens and ones. ANIMAL REPORTS!![]() We just finished our class animal report on Polar Bears. Next week, the kids will work in groups to complete an animal report on an animal of their choice. They gave me 3 of the animals they'd like to research. I will place the kids in groups and they'll work together. They are really excited! Here's What's Coming Up Next...Here's our class list for Valentine cards :) ![]()
