Our little ones are learning to write paragraphs!! We use a graphic organizer called "HAMBURGER WRITING" in order to structure our writing with a topic sentence, 3 details, and a closing sentence. After that, the kids copy their hamburger writing onto another paper in order to create a paragraph. We are creating these paragraphs together as we learn about Polar Bears, and later on the kids will create their own using other topics. Make sure to stop by the office and check out our amazing Martin Luther King Jr. portraits! The kids are very proud of their work!! Over the past few days, we read books and watched videos about groundhogs. The kids predicted and graphed if they thought the groundhog would see his shadow. We found out that he did!! It looks like 6 more weeks of winter... however, it really doesn't feel like winter around here!!! Mrs. Higgins worked with the kids on matching pitch and keeping a steady beat. Take a look... Story problems are the key to using math in context. The kids have many different math tools available to them and it is up to them to find the ones that help to solve the problems in the most efficient ways. The kids are encouraged to show how to solve problems using more than one method and share their thinking with their classmates. This helps to develop a deeper understanding. Check it out!!
