This week, we have been working on dropping bad reading habits & picking up good ones, especially when we come to tricky words. As you see on our chart, kids often freeze up, mumble a word, ask someone to TELL THEM the word, or just say something that doesn't make sense. We are learning that you CAN do something that will really help solve those tricky words!! Kids can... check the picture, chunk a few known parts together, & check to make sure the pictures & the words make SENSE!! This week, the kids took their second i-Ready test to monitor growth in reading & math. I will share the results with you at parent conferences. The kids will be tested one more time, in April or May. Most kids are finished, but there are still some that will need to complete their tests next week. Mr. White visited our class on Monday in order to prepare our students for his big visit next week. He discussed proper behavior during instruction & with the animals. The kids are really excited to have a full day of science with Mr. White. Here's a sneak peak of what's to come next week... Mrs. Higgins had a fun lesson in which the kids danced to a piece of classical music. We are so lucky to have such an amazing music teacher!!! Take a look... Thanks to Mrs. Holtzendorff, Mrs. Hernandez, and Mrs. Avina for helping the students with our art project. I really appreciate the extra help!!!
